Murcof – The Alias Sessions

murcof - the alias sessions

Murcof, the primary project of producer Fernando Corona, returns to The Leaf Label for the first time in thirteen years with a mammoth and visionary double album, ‘The Alias Sessions‘. This collection brings together all the elements incorporated into the project to date – meticulous sound design, ghostly samples, forceful beats, diaphanous atmosphere – but pushes the sound even further in terms of both abstraction and beauty. This is electronic music of exquisite tension and ecstatic release, moving from barely audible details to explosive peaks, much of it delivered by earth-moving bass.

‘The Alias Sessions’ is the fruit of Murcof’s long term collaboration with Guilherme Botelho’s Alias dance company, based in Geneva. This new double album contains music from two of Alias’ choreographic works: ‘Contre-Mondes’ (2017) and ‘Normal’ (2018), re-worked and adapted for album format and mastered onto analogue tape.

‘The Alias Sessions’ has been mastered by Alex Gámez at Störung Studios. Released by the British label The Leaf Label in a deluxe 3×12″ (45 RPM) packaged in a spot-varnished gatefold sleeve, with initial pressings including an additional gatefold insert containing extraordinary images from the ‘Contre-Mondes’ performances. Vinyl cut by Stefan Betke. Also available in 2xCDs version.
