To mark its 20th anniversary, the Störung platform presents ‘AM’, an exclusive production by Asférico and Murcof (Alex Gámez and Fernando Corona). This project is the result of an intense creative process and sonic experimentation developed at Störung Studios.
To shape this new project, classic synthesizers and vintage audio processors have been used with a clear experimental intention. With these, Asférico and Murcof transform historical machines into tools of contemporary innovation: expansive dynamics, drones, complex textures and psychoacoustics. ‘AM’ is performed in multi-channel format.
Asférico
Alex Gámez, born in Barcelona in 1981, has been involved in the music scene since 1995 as a DJ, artist, sound designer, mixing/mastering engineer and producer. He currently performs his artistic work under the name Asférico. Asférico is a project born from the artistic need to create and experiment without losing the groove. He produces a wide spectrum of sounds and compositions, from highly experimental to club music.
In January 2006, he founded Störung, a platform dedicated to electronic and experimental music, sound and visual art. He is also the sound engineer at Störung Studios.
Murcof
Murcof is the project name of electronic music artist Fernando Corona, born in 1970 in Tijuana, Mexico. He was part of the multidisciplinary Nortec Collective under the pseudonym Terrestre, from its founding in 1999 until he left in 2003. Murcof’s music is electronic and minimalist. Many of his compositions are based on electronic percussions and abstract music. His music has harmonic and melodic influences from classical music (contemporary, musique concrète, sacred minimalism, micropolyphony and Baroque). The rhythms derive from minimal techno, dub, glitch, industrial, and IDM, and are usually structured in a 4/4 time.
Phonos
Phonos is a pioneering centre in the fields of electronic and electroacoustic music in Spain, with 50 years of history. Our fundamental mission is to establish bridges between sound creation and research in technology, promoting and informing the latest developments in technology from creative and critical perspectives. We carry out our activity through artist-in-residency programmes and workshops, a series of concerts and public events, as well as through projects in close collaboration with the Music Technology Group of Pompeu Fabra University, institution to which Phonos has been associated since 1994.
