The now called FabFilter Pro-L2. It is a true peak limiting plug-in that offers new advances and adaptability for productions during the mixing and mastering processes.
If we analyze Pro-L2 more closely, we find that this new version contains four new limitation algorithms, new True-Peak limitation mode, loudness measurement and surround support, among some of its novelties.
Within the four new limitation algorithms presented by FabFilter Pro-L2, Modern is the standard mode that produces even better results than the Transparent and Allround algorithms of the previous version. Aggressive is suitable for a maximum volume. Bus has been designed specifically for batteries and for limiting individual tracks, while Safe’s goal is to avoid distortion at all times. So that, the new version offers a total of 8 limitation algorithms.
Another new feature of the Pro-L 2 is the true peak limitation. It is enabled in the lower menu bar and avoids peaks between samples that may be higher than the actual sample level. If the option is enabled, the output values will be shown as dBTP, which means dB True Peak, instead of dBFS (dB Full Scale).
It also adds a mode of different oversampling ranges to avoid aliasing and distortion. The CPU consumption is a function of the different ranges that are selected. It also contains extensive volume measurement with support for the EBU R128, ITU-R BS.1770-4 and ATSC A / 85 standards and compatibility with surround sound, including formats such as Dolby Atmos 7.0.2 and 7.1.2.
Headphones function is one of the most outstanding novelties, it allows to listen to the real limitation that Pro-L2 is exerting in real time. In addition, the display shows the reduction of gain applied to a special peak label.
FabFilter Pro-L2 is compatible with Windows 7 or higher, Vista on 32 and 64-bits and OSX 10.6 or higher. It is available in VST, VST3, Audio Units, AAX Native and AudioSuite formats (in 64 bits and 32 bits), as well as RTAS (32 bits).
